Weymouth Speedway race in
the sports National Conference
League, racing against clubs
such as Plymouth, Boston
and Scunthorpe. The Conference
League has developed many
of the sports GP and Sky
Sports Elite League stars,
such as Chris “Bomber” Harris,
Simon Stead, and the “Wayne
Rooney” of Speedway, Lewis
Bridger, who began his career
with the Wildcats. Weymouth
Speedway is a community
sports club, run by local
businessman Phil Bartlett
who has an ambition to see
the Wildcats race in the
sports Premier League alongside
big city clubs such as,
Birmingham, Newcastle, Sheffield,
Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Situated to the back of
Weymouth FC’s stadium, the
Speedway has a number of
ways in which you can promote
your business to both local
and visiting guests through
the medium of Britain’s
fastest growing summer sport.
Speedway is known as the
family sport and recent
market research has found
that this is indeed a fact
as 82% of attendees do so
with a family member. The
season runs from March until
October, and Weymouth run
on most Saturdays and intend
to run 25 meetings in 2008.
Speedway has a 70:30 male
to female ratio. Due to
the support the club received
during 2006 & 2007 by its
Media partners, coupled
with the clubs ongoing community
involvement Weymouth Speedway
intend to significantly
increase their attendance
in 2008.
